Model Description
The V11 is the bike that bridges the era of crude, old-fashioned Moto Guzzis produced in the 1990s and a new, mostly updated era begun with the 1200 Griso in 2005. As such it was a ‘stop gap’ family of bikes produced after Aprilia took over the company in 1999 and developed with a new approach to styling and quality but before the significantly re-engineered Griso came on line. So, although the big, 1064cc, air-cooled Guzzi V-twin is little changed, producing 91bhp, a fresh approach to classic, retro styling that celebrated Guzzi’s rich history along with much improved quality, finishes and cycle parts resulted in a whole range of still old fashioned, but now far better looking, more evocative, classy and invigorating machines. These ranged from the fairly basic, unfaired V11 Sport (which hinted at the classic V7 Sport of 1971), through the bikini-faired Scura and Ballabio to the half-faired and Ohlins-equipped Le Mans Rosso Corsa.
